Ambien Tablets- An Effective Hypnotic Sedative
31 Oct 2014
Although there are lots of sleeping tablets available to choose from today, it is important to be selective about the type of tablet to use and to choose them according to the type of sleeping problems being experienced. For the short term treatment of the insomnia and other sleeping disorders, Zolpidem, also commonly known as Ambien, is used as an effective sedative. When it is delivered in controlled released form, it is effective in maintaining sleep throughout the night. There are 18 major natural brain chemicals that control communication with the neighboring brain cells. One such chemical is GABA which is a neurotransmitter. Ambien works in combination with GABA to reduce the electrical activeness of the brain cells and induces sleep by targeting a particular area in the brain.
Brain chemicals can sometimes become imbalanced and this can cause sleeping problems. When dealing with sleeping disorders of this type, Ambien is considered a highly effective medicine. The extended release form of this tablet, Ambien-CR is also very effective. Its first layer dissolves quickly to make the patient fall asleep and the second layer dissolves slowly to help the patient stay asleep. It is effective for insomnia treatment because:
- It helps you fall asleep - a person can fall asleep within 15-30 minutes of taking this medication
- It avoids early wake ups - These tablets increase the overall time of sleeping and there are no early wake-ups.
- It helps you stay asleep - insomnia patients report fewer awakenings during the night with this medication than with any other tablet.
There is no doubt that this product is an effective treatment, however, this sedative should also be used in on/off manner for the best results. It is medically advised to take it for no longer than 4 weeks on a continual basis without a break. In this way, patient dependency is avoided and the medicine maintains its effectiveness. While taking this medicine, some precautions should be followed. It should not be taken before performing any task which requires alertness such as driving or operating machinery. Alcohol should also be avoided. It should only be taken before sleep is required and when there is around 7 hours of sleep available to be taken. If a patient is taking other medicines too, it is necessary to consult a doctor to determine if the medicines will interact in a negative way together. People suffering from depression, kidney or liver problem, breathing problems such as asthma, bronchitis, alcoholic dependency or if pregnant or breast feeding are advised to avoid it. Ambien
is meant for those who have sleeping disorders and who have consulted their doctor before taking it.
This medication is very beneficial for people who cannot get to sleep at night but only when taken under proper medical guidance and with adequate sleeping hours available to obtain the right results.
